Spring Skin Reset: The Best Treatments to Refresh Your Skin After Winter

Winter takes a toll on your skin — dullness, dehydration, and a loss of radiance are all common complaints as we head into spring. Here, Nurse Heather shares the treatments she recommends most for a genuine skin reset this April.

Why Spring Is the Best Time to Invest in Your Skin

After months of central heating, cold winds, and reduced daylight, most people's skin arrives in spring looking and feeling less than its best. Dullness, dehydration, congestion, and uneven texture are among the most common concerns I see in clinic during March and April — and the good news is that all of them are very treatable.

Spring is also, practically speaking, one of the best times of year to have certain treatments. The lower UV intensity compared to summer means that post-treatment recovery is easier to manage, and you have time to see real results before the warmer months arrive. Below, I have outlined the treatments I most commonly recommend for a spring skin reset, along with what each one does and who it suits best.

1. Chemical Peels: The Foundation of a Skin Reset

If I had to choose one treatment that delivers the most visible transformation for the widest range of skin concerns, it would be a medical-grade chemical peel. At Skintap, I offer three options — the Perfect Peel, the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel, and the Obagi Bright Peel — each suited to different skin types and concerns.

Chemical peels work by applying a controlled acid solution to the skin, which causes the outermost layers to shed over the following days. The result is fresher, smoother skin with improved tone, reduced pigmentation, and a noticeably brighter complexion. The Perfect Peel, which contains glutathione, kojic acid, and retinoic acid among other actives, is particularly effective for dullness, fine lines, and uneven pigmentation. The Obagi peels are excellent for acne-prone skin and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Peels are best avoided in high summer when UV exposure is at its peak, which makes spring the ideal window. Prices start from £150.

2. Profhilo: Deep Hydration and Tissue Remodelling

Profhilo remains one of the most popular treatments at Skintap, and for good reason. It is not a filler — it does not add volume or change your facial structure. Instead, it is an ultra-pure hyaluronic acid injectable that spreads through the tissue, stimulating collagen and elastin production and providing deep, lasting hydration from within.

The results are subtle but genuinely transformative: skin looks plumper, more hydrated, and more youthful, with improved laxity and texture. A standard course consists of two treatments four weeks apart, with results lasting up to six months. It is one of the treatments I recommend most readily for patients in their late thirties and beyond who want to address the early signs of skin ageing without looking "done." Prices from £275.

3. Polynucleotides: Next-Generation Skin Regeneration

Polynucleotides (PDRN) are one of the most exciting developments in aesthetic medicine in recent years. Derived from salmon or trout DNA, they work by stimulating the skin's own repair mechanisms — increasing fibroblast activity, improving hydration, and reducing inflammation. The results are particularly impressive for skin quality, fine lines, dark circles under the eyes, and areas of thinning or crepey skin.

I use polynucleotides for patients who want a genuine improvement in skin quality rather than a cosmetic correction. They work well as a standalone treatment and also complement other injectables such as Profhilo and skinboosters. A course of two to three sessions is typically recommended. Prices from £275.

4. Microneedling: Collagen Induction for Texture and Tone

SkinPen Precision microneedling is the only FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market, and it is the device I use at Skintap. It works by creating thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the body's natural wound-healing response and stimulating new collagen and elastin production.

The results are particularly impressive for acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and fine lines. Spring is an excellent time to start a course — three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is the standard recommendation — as the skin needs some protection from direct sun exposure in the weeks following treatment. Prices from £200.

5. Skinboosters: Targeted Hydration for Specific Concerns

Skinboosters are injectable hyaluronic acid treatments designed to improve skin hydration, elasticity, and radiance at a more targeted level than Profhilo. At Skintap, I offer a range including Seventy Hyal 2000, Jalupro, NCTF, Restylane Vital, and Skinvive, each with slightly different formulations suited to different skin concerns and areas.

Skinboosters are particularly popular for the face, neck, décolletage, and hands — areas that often show dehydration and early ageing before the face does. They are a gentle, low-downtime option that works well for patients who want to maintain their skin's quality between more intensive treatments. Prices from £140.

Where to Start: A Personalised Approach

One of the things I feel most strongly about at Skintap is that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to skin. The treatments I have outlined above are all excellent options for a spring skin reset, but the right combination — and the right starting point — will depend entirely on your skin, your concerns, and your goals.

Every patient at Skintap begins with a consultation. I do not believe in recommending treatments without first understanding your skin properly, and I will always tell you honestly if I think a treatment is not right for you. Sometimes the best treatment really is no treatment — or a change to your skincare routine rather than an injectable.

If you would like to discuss a spring skin reset, I would love to hear from you. You can book a consultation directly online, or get in touch with any questions.
